The journey began in 2020 with the first movie, which raked in an impressive $319 million globally, setting a record as the highest-grossing video game adaptation in North America. The latest film, which introduced the character Shadow the Hedgehog, has amassed a whopping $422 million, bringing the franchise’s total earnings to over $1 billion.
The mid-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 teased the arrival of a fan-favorite character, making the announcement of a fourth installment almost inevitable.
