Concerns Raised by Norwich City’s Angus Gunn Over Contract Communication
Angus Gunn, the goalkeeper for Norwich City, has voiced his worries regarding the lack of communication from the club about a potential new contract. With his current agreement set to expire at the end of the season, Gunn noted that discussions about a renewal have yet to occur.
In a conversation with BBC Radio Norfolk, Gunn shared, “I haven’t received any updates from the club, which is concerning. I often get asked about my contract situation, but truthfully, I can’t provide any answers due to the absence of communication.”
The Scotland international, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and unable to join his national squad, expressed his hope that contract negotiations will begin soon. He highlighted the necessity of having clarity for professional players who need to plan for their futures.
“Above all, I just hope for some clarity – I have a family to think about and need to look ahead,” Gunn stated. “For any professional, having clarity about your future is essential.”
Even amid this uncertainty, Gunn remains open to the idea of continuing his journey at Carrow Road, where he has made a notable impact since joining the team. The 29-year-old goalkeeper, whose father is the Norwich goalkeeping icon Bryan Gunn, reflected on his experiences with the club and expressed gratitude for the chances he has been given.
“If the club reaches out to me and expresses their desire for me to stay, I would certainly be interested in having that discussion,” Gunn mentioned. “It’s my hometown, the place where I grew up, and naturally, it’s the team I’ve always supported.”
Having previously played for Norwich on loan before returning from Southampton in 2021, Gunn has solidified his role as a crucial member of the squad, racking up 166 appearances and achieving 44 clean sheets.
“I owe a great deal to this club for my career, and many people here have played significant roles in my journey to this point,” Gunn added, emphasizing his strong bond with Norwich City and his eagerness to continue contributing to the club’s success.
