Exciting Collaborations Announced for Magic: The Gathering
Last year at MagicCon Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast revealed thrilling news about three collaboration sets set to launch for Magic: The Gathering in 2025, including Final Fantasy, Spider-Man, and a mysterious third set. Today, during a preview panel at MagicCon Chicago, fans finally learned that the mystery set will be themed around the beloved series, Avatar: The Last Airbender.
A captivating teaser video showcased snippets of characters and artwork that will appear in the Avatar set, generating buzz ahead of its release on November 21. In addition, the Final Fantasy set is scheduled for a June release, while the launch date for Spider-Man remains unconfirmed.
The 2025 release calendar for MTG also features three in-universe expansions: Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and Edge of Eternities. At the MagicCon Chicago event, attendees were treated to a preview of several cards from Tarkir: Dragonstorm, including the special serialized Headliner card, Mox Jasper. This addition marks the return of the iconic “mox” cards to Magic after a hiatus since 2020.
Fans have even more to look forward to, as new cards and expansions from popular franchises such as The Walking Dead, Fortnite, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Hatsune Miku, The Lord of the Rings, Fallout, and Doctor Who are on the horizon. The Universes Beyond initiative continues to enrich the Magic: The Gathering experience, introducing innovative and unexpected elements to the game’s expansive lore.
